Winter Clean Beauty Essential: Do-It-All Lotus Glow Cleansing Balm

We are in the middle of snowmageddon here in Vancouver. I’m enjoying the 10-inch helping of snow in our neighbourhood and the outdoors is anything but fun for me. It might be freezing, but I couldn’t think of a better time to talk about one of my favourite clean beauty products to help during the frigid conditions**: the do-it-all moisturizing Lotus Glow Cleansing Balm. [** You can laugh at me now, East Coast friends.]

Beautycounter Lotus Glow Cleansing Blalm

Counter+ Cleansing Balm

Do not be fooled by the “cleansing” part of the name. It is anything but just a cleanser. This multitasking balm melts into the skin, hydrating while cleansing it. It removes makeup and other impurities while keeping your skin moisturized. The blend of lotus extract, jojoba seed oil and avocado seed oil soothes and destresses skin while giving it that brightness and luminosity.

I also use it as a morning cleanser and it leaves my skin feeling smooth and non-irritated. I have struggled with redness and skin sensitivity for the past decade and this has significantly toned that down. This balm has really calmed down my skin.

What’s the “glow” part?

Lotus Extract, an active plant stem cell extract, helps soothe and de-stress the skin, while boosting its radiance, luminosity and brightness—glow

The blend of Jojoba Seed Oil and Avocado Seed Oil help retain moisture by mimicking the skin’s natural lipids, leaving it balanced.

Why is it safer?

The Lotus Glow Cleansing Balm is made without PEGs, BHT, petrolatum or mineral oil. This better-for-you formula uses sunflower seed wax, vitamin E, shea butter, mango butter, avocado oil, and jojoba oil.

How to use:

In light, circular motions, gently massage an almond-size amount into skin. Wipe off balm with a warm, damp cloth. Rinse with cool water.

Other uses:

  • Overnight mask – massage it into clean skin and rinse away in the morning; you can use this on top of the Counter+ Overnight Resurfacing Peel
  • Cuticle and hand moisturizer – I keep a travel-size jar of this balm for anytime & anywhere use. I wash my hands a lot and get dry cuticles. It keeps my manicure (and pedicure) looking new for a longer time than usual (more than 7 days!)

  • Spot treatment for dry skin

  •  Post-Charcoal Mask Treatment – Slather this on after rinsing off your charcoal mask (or clay mask) for at least 15 minutes and removing with a warm, damp face towel. It will leave you’re skin feeling refreshed.
